I’m William, author of the Science Hedgehog.
I’ve had a love of science for as long as I can remember and I have the best job in the world getting to share my passion with students! I have experience teaching middle school, high school and university science courses, and have worked with curriculum from Canada, the United States and Britain.
I am a massive nerd and the best part about my job is helping others discover what excites them about science. I’ve always said that everyone loves something about science, be it the human body, space, the environment, chemistry, physics or forensic science. There’s just so much out there and so much that is still to be discovered!
I try to make my lessons engaging for all of my students and make the world a little smaller by showing them how connected we all are.
I was born and studied in Canada at McGill University and the University of Toronto. In 2014 I moved to the Caribbean, which still seems like a dream. When I’m not teaching I love spending time with my dog, going to the beach, cooking and nerding out as much as possible!
Why the science hedgehog?
When I first started teaching I had a pet hedgehog, her name was Hawk! She was pretty awesome and my students seemed to agree. My first ever class got me a stuffed hedgehog as a gift at the end of the year, which I still have in my classroom to this day.
Over the years I’ve jokingly included hedgehogs as part of many of my lessons and test questions. When it came time to start my store on Teachers Pay Teachers, it seemed obvious what my store should be called and The Science Hedgehog was born.
